WASHINGTON - The game between the Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals, scheduled for 12:35 p.m. CT Sunday, was delayed by inclement weather. A line of showers was approaching Nationals Park around the scheduled game time, according to Nationals officials, leading to the delay.

The Texas Rangers started this reliever in a bullpen game and his otherwise excellent game was derailed by a potential injury in the fourth inning.

Alex Call had finally done it. In the eighth inning, he worked a walk — the only free pass the Washington Nationals would earn Saturday. The moment was worthy of a celebration, so Call flipped his bat and jogged to first base as Robert Hassell III moved into scoring position.

After the Nationals shut out the Rangers in game one of the series, Texas returned the favor last night. A Jacob Degrom masterclass lifted the Rangers to a 5-0 win. The streaky Nationals offense needs to get back on track. They have been very quiet this home stand.

Bochy did not indicate how long Latz would pitch or the arrangement of the relievers after Latz.  The only pitcher he said he intends to stay away from is right-handed reliever Chris Martin, who pitched the ninth inning of Saturday's victory over the Nationals.

Michael Soroka struck out seven in six sparkling innings, and the Washington Nationals beat Patrick Corbin and the Texas Rangers 2-0.
